I've been working on this on and off for a few weeks now, and it's finally ready to be put up! After spending an abhorrent amount of time rewriting rec lists every time someone asked for one, I decided to post an updated list. It's short now, but my plan is to eventually include graphics and crap. Check back often. It will be updated on a regular basis.
Keep in mind that my opinions are only my own and this list will contain slash, spoilers for all seasons, and all sorts of pairings (which will be warned about).
Please also keep note of the WARNINGS for NC-17 and Tearbending (Oh yeah, I so went there).
BUT! I shall restrain myself. I have too much to do before then. My plans are as follows (broken down in helpful bullet-points).
- Finish the betaing for Kim and Stingmon. I'm way behind, and I suck.
- Complete NaNoWriMo -- 50k or bust!!!!
- Hopefully complete the ATLA Smut challenge. Due Monday.
- Finish In His Shoes. I'm, what, three chapters away from being done and I keep draaaaging....
- Work on first draft for next chapter of Another Brother. Spruce up Katara's motivations, because they just don't make sense right now, and she's coming off as bit of a psycho...
- Complete AU meme.
- Write Team Seven vs Team Gaang vs Bells
- Critique a story or two for Critique Circle
- Write next chapter for Between Beneath Beyond.
Also, in Real Life stuff I'm sorta hosting Thanksgiving at my house for my family and my family-in-law (for my sister). So I gotta clean the house, prep for that... oh, and continue looking for a job.
I gots myself a full plate! So begone, ava-plot bunnies! I have no time for you! *swishes fly swatter*

Oh this is easy. If there was one book I could ban from library's -- no, THE WORLD -- it would have to be this one.

FUCK YOU GROVER, YOU COCK-TEASE SON OF A BITCH. **Spoiler alert** YOU ARE THE MONSTER AT THE END OF THE BOOK!!! UGH!!! WAY TO SHOW A KID HOW TO BE LET DOWN!!!!
In other news, thanks everyone for your words of support yesterday! I went to a local write-in and managed 31,022 words!!!!!
Hey, take a look at my NaNo progress graph provided by Critique Circle. I'm weaving up and down like a drunk sailor. lol.

Title: Another Brother
Rating: PG-13 (T)
Warning: AU
Summary: It was a mission of revenge. There weren't supposed to be any survivors, but Chief Hakoda couldn't bring himself to kill the Fire Nation boy. Against his better judgment, he brought him home. (A Zuko joins the Water Tribe story.)
Notes: Spoilers for Southern Raiders

Edit: Done it! I'm now at 15,737 and MC1 has finally met MC2. I'll update on why I've been gone, tomorrow, and update some fic and stuff. Until then... *flops over dead*
I'm still behind most of my flist, but watch yourselves. My MC's just spent his first night in the forest, encountered his soon to be stalker ware-wolf friend, and is totally going to go man vs wild soon. I'm catching up fast!
Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
I haven't gotten much done in Nano. I'm still at 5000 words, and feeling a little shitty about that. Double-ugh. I might just do a word-sprint and then post that meme that's going around. Still working on the AU meme, everyone. Don't worry. :D
Hopefully I'll have another word update before the night is out.

.... Wow. Er, anyway... I finally got my main character to step into the deadly forest of doom. Apparently he felt the need to KILL one of his pursuers before he did, y'know, just to up the stakes a little. So in retaliation I made him leave his most favorite horse he's had since he was about 8 outside the forest. *sniff* Oh Buckeye, we hardly knew ye....
Anyway I'm at *more drumroll please...*
Yes that is 5k exactly. To be fair I ended up at 4998 at the end of chapter 1, but writing down "Chapter Two" on the next line gave me my required word count. Hahaha.
And if you're tired of hearing about this original story crap, then here's a lovely crack drawing

Well I'll go back and change it once I have more of a fix on the character. Onward!

As Nano approches, I'm both jittery and excited and I need little stories to help me pass the time. So here's an AU mini-meme! Pick a character or characters, an alternate setting/genre, a crossover, genderbent, whatever, and I'll scribble you something. What if they were animals, Avatar, Animorphs, Naruto, Mercedes Thompson...
Up to two requests per person, but I'll likely only pick one.

For me -- the way my crazy mind works-- research means the death of a first draft. I start to take myself so seriously that I freeze up like a squirrel in front of an oncoming car. (Maybe if I don't look move, it won't see me...)
So with that said, I've sorta not bothered with a synopsis until... oh right about now. And this covers only a 1/3rd of the book. But after taking everyone's comments in that plot-poll I made y'all do a few days ago, I've settled on #4. The wolf plot. I also changed the name of the MC.
( So here it is. )
Honest thoughts?

zoetekohana 1. Comment.
2. I will name a fandom.
3. Name your favorite fanfic from that fandom, and why it is your favorite.
4. Copy this meme into your journal.
I'm hoping to discover crazy-good fanfiction from this to distract me from Nano jitters. Don't let me down, guys! :D

Clockworkchaos went ahead and wrote out (with my total permission) a sequel to that Avatar/Stargate oneshot I did awhile back, Rampage. Check it out!

I've been busy trying to study up the last couple of days. (Fun stuff like, what's the maximum allowed contaminate level for turbidity and chlorine residual? What's the difference between calcium hypochlorinate and sodium hypochlorinate? How does a septic tank work?) I dunno... somehow with the competitive market I feel like I probably don't have much of a shot. I just hope I don't make a fool of myself.
Ack. I'm just a big bundle of nerves right now. Silly, because it's going to be probably a twenty minute interview. I just really want this job. Anyone got any surefire interview tips?
Edit: Done with the interview guys! Thanks for the support and/or tips! It went... well, I think. I made them laugh a few times, but they got a lot of interviews to do. Here's hoping I stood out! :D
Well the time is coming up quickly and I have four (very rough) summaries for original plots that have been cooking in my head on and off for the past year. I think I know which one I want to do, but I'd like a reality check. Be honest.. do any of these sound remotely interesting? (And yes, I'm aware that #1 is like The Planet of the Apes only with dogs. I can only promise there would be no statue of liberty. ;D)
#1 Title: And the Meek Shall Inherit
The human race is gone, all sickened and killed by a superflu in a matter of weeks. Now only the dogs remain. Trapped in decaying houses, confused, starving… Will they have what it takes to remember their inner animal, or has their time as man’s best friend left them with the chance to become… more?
#2 Title: Cleansed By Fire
An overworked, under-appreciated high school science teacher discovers he has super-powers after a lab accident. Now he has to avoid a suspicious government agency, save the world... and deal with over-involved student parents.
#3 Title: Mage Eyes
Every young mage is required to attend the great House of Mages as soon as their gifts are revealed and if their powers are not great they are sealed away, made as slaves for those with more talent. In all of the lands, only two mages remain free of the House’s control – one with great powers, and one with lesser. But in both of these children is the power to change the world.
#4 Title: (Not sure yet. I’m torn between ‘The Wolf Who Fell In Love with A Boy’ and ‘Era of the Wolf’ or something else. Help?)
To enter the Oxbow forests was suicide. All who trespassed beyond the treeline never returned. But Horatio was desperate – it was either death by the beasts, or at the end of a hangman’s noose. He didn’t expect to be spared, or to be stalked by a beautiful white wolf that would not kill him… or let him leave.

My three biggest fears (in no particular order and ignoring the fact that I'm somewhat of a hypochondriac) are: volcanoes, rabies and public transportation via bus.
I can't really say that the first two have affected my life like... ever. I suppose the rabies thing does make me a little wary of bats when they get caught in the house (although I don't particular mind bats. They're cool little creatures), and I have no particular desire to either 1) be next to a volcano in any way, shape or form or 2) confront a rabid animal.
... And right there, I just gave myself the willies.
As for the bus-thing... That's why I have a car and a motorcycle. :D I'm pretty sure I could handle a bus across town, but I did decline a bus trip to the bay area on a company trip. I just... I guess it's a feeling close to claustrophobia. I dislike being out of control on the road, and being pressed in with a couple dozen other people and NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP WHEN I NEED TO STOP... Not like I ever actually stop in a road trip. I'm more of a 'get straight there' sort of person. Whatever. I don't like it and avoid it when I can.
Hmm... Volcanoes, Rabies and Buses.
So... to confront my fears I suppose I need to be bussed to a volcanic island filled with rabid animals. That should do it.
There are times in my life where I strongly suspect my mind works differently than most other people. This is one of those times.
